What do you do when it's Obsolete?

Business is not as easy as it use to be. I don't believe that the counterfeit problem is new, i believe that we finally got a clue to what was happening. That sounds rather curt but it's true. 10 years ago no one ever thought we would have to X-ray components or decap chips to verify the die markings.  But we are and those of us that have adapted to the changes in our industry are the companies you can trust to supply product from the open market.  Stock-Point is proactive and considers everything unknown, even if our inventory was purchased as an excess lot from a company as large as Flextronics, we check everything.  A detailed QC inspection is done to qualify the product as authentic and this includes, but not limited to detailed X-ray analysis and decapsulation for die markings.  Counterfeit product can be passed off under unknown circumstances and if your supplier is not proactive chances are you might see counterfeit product enter your supply chain.  Even if your supplier issues an RMA lets keep in mind the time and costs involved in that transaction. I am so tired of counterfeit electronic components!

I am so sick and tired of this never ending, snowballing, plague, business ruining, sometimes can be life threatening, money costing, annoying, time consuming, issue of counterfeit electronic components! Franchise sent us pulled parts!

When did it get so bad? It is scary to be an independent distributor today. Actually we recently rejected product we received in from a major franchise distributor because they had been clearly used, marks from heat sinks, BGA balls were all contaminated with solder. Not the quality you would expect from a franchise distributor, right? Wrong if you think about it. Their quality control of receiving returns is obviously flawed. Someone sent them back pulled parts and they just put them back on their shelf ready to ship out to the next buyer. Our QC is tight enough that we caught this. What makes this worse is we rejected them, they gave us an RMA shipped us replacements and they were just as bad, so not once but twice and even after they were told that they shipped pulled parts. But keep in mind folks if you are buying from a franchise source you are safe, if you believe that then I would like to sell you a full proof system to earn a million dollars in 24 hours.  You, us are not safe in this market.
